Yesterday morning at work, I went to visit in the office next to me where two male co-workers were visiting. They had some extra breakfast sandwiches leftover from a meeting they had just finished. I was offered one and thought I’d tear off a little piece & then go back to work. One of the boys said “I wouldn’t eat that if I were you”. I said “why did it hurt your tummy”, he said “no, you are just starting to look thin and you shouldn’t eat that, it’s not healthy”. I took it as a compliment, I mean I am starting to lose some much needed weight and people are beginning to ask me about it. When I told Joey and another friend about it, they both said it was a little offensive because he had no right to tell me what to eat or not to eat. I guess you’d have to know this person. He is not always politically correct…AT ALL, so I just took it as a compliment. What do you think? How would you take a comment like that? Just curious!

I wouldn’t be offended that he was giving me advice about what is healthy and what’s not, but I might be a little offended by the “you are JUST starting to look thin” comment…I probably wouldn’t like being reminded that I’d been noticeably heavier before.

I’d probably just try to look at the positive side of the comment and think…”I’m looking thin!!!”

Please tell me his gut wasn’t spilling over his pants as he made that comment? Although I can see where it is a rude comment – take the positive out of it – you look thinner – lucky girl!
